Interior Health is hosting its virtual fall job fair on October 3 in an effort to help recruit healthcare professionals to the area.

With more than 1,800 vacancies posted on the regional health authority’s website, Interior Health’s recruitment team sourcing coordinator Kailee Thorne says there are quite a few vacancies. vacancies to be filled.

“The number of vacancies depends on the community and the profession, but we have lots of vacancies and many opportunities for people, whether casual or permanent full-time and in all communities of Interior Health,” said Thorne.

In 2020, Thorne says they had to pivot the in-person event online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, she explains due to its proven success in attracting healthcare professionals from further, they decided to keep it virtual again this year.

“Especially with people working from home and when we’re trying to recruit from different provinces, it’s great that we can talk to anyone from anywhere and can cover a wide range of professions.”

She adds that the online digital fair allows for a real-time one-on-one session between the candidate and the recruiter.

“This expands the pool of candidates as we seek to attract top talent to the organization and the healthcare industry,” Thorne said.

Those interested in participating can book online to meet with a recruiter in all disciplines, including nursing, laboratory, administration, leadership roles, as well as healthcare career pathway programs, explains Thorne.

“It could be someone who is in school to become a health assistant (for example) or someone who is interested in joining another province, and who is already a qualified health assistant. »

She adds that there will be a few questions in the candidate’s profile when they register for the event, which she says will determine which sessions are available based on their qualifications.

“They will see the stand that relates to their qualifications and their specialty of interest, and then they will be able to see a bit more about that profession and have information about it.”

The information will include what Interior Health expects, what the careers entail, and what the qualifications are for the position.

“Then they can sign up for a one-on-one session with a recruiter,” Thorne added.

Once October 3 rolls around, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., registrants will be able to sign up for a zoom session with the recruiter to discuss potential job opportunities.

“Recruiters will then forward all applications that meet the qualifications to hiring managers and in some cases hiring managers will also be on call to bring that lens and have more than one initial interview.”
