Salman Khan Says He Was Gifted Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat and Reveals Why He Didn’t Buy It


Shah Rukh Khan is the perfect example of how dreams come true. The simple middle class boy from Delhi, who came to Mumbai with the dream of becoming big one day, has not only achieved the same but also leads the city. The Badshah of Bollywood, who grew up in the back streets of Delhi in rented flats, now owns one of the biggest mansions, Mannat.

For every person who visits Mumbai, Mannat is a must visit place for them hoping to catch a glimpse of the superstar. Located on Bandstand, Shah Rukh Khan had purchased the heritage bungalow from Bai Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana Trust in 2001. Since then, his mansion has been transformed into a six-storey building and overlooks the Arabian Sea.

Do you know that the Mannat was first offered to Salman Khan, who declined it? In a recent interview with Faridoon Shahryar, when Salman Khan was asked about the one thing Shah Rukh Khan would have liked to have, the actor replied Shah Rukh’s mansion, Mannat. Speaking of the same, the actor explained how the mansion was first offered to him and also revealed the reason why he didn’t take it. Speaking of the same, Salman said:

“His bungalow (Mannat). But that came to me first, when I had just started. My dad (film producer and screenwriter Salim Khan) said he didn’t do ghar mein tum kya karoge. I want to ask Shah Rukh, itne bade ghar mein karta kya hai tu.


Shah Rukh Khan’s six-storey mansion was designed by his wife, Gauri and is said to be worth Rs. 200 crores. For Gauri, Mannat came to her as a blank canvas that let her grow and develop as an interior designer. Gauri Khan, along with architect-designer Kaif Faquih, worked on the mansion for almost a decade. According to the star wife, as their family grew and renovations and remodels were made to meet changing needs, this also shaped its design aesthetic.

A few months ago, Shah Rukh and Gauri changed the nameplate of their house. The new nameplate, which reads ‘Mannat Land’s End’, is designed under the supervision of design maestro, Gauri. However, the price of the new nameplate made headlines. According to a report by, the cost of the nameplate is around Rs. 20-25 Lakhs.
