The Oklahoma Sooners have lost several important pieces of their 2021 squad on the transfer portal. Jadon Haselwood went to Arkansas and Austin Stogner and Spencer Rattler left for South Carolina. Rattler’s move was inevitable after his tumultuous season, but Haselwood and Stogner’s losses are stinging a bit.
While the Sooners have the depth off the coast to mitigate the loss of Haselwood, who has led the Sooners in receptions and touchdowns this season, they don’t have the same depth on the tight end. Jeremiah Hall has just graduated and Brayden Willis is considering a jump into the NFL.
Clemson has been notoriously resistant to using the Transfer Portal under Dabo Swinney, however, Brent Venables will not take the same stance. Venables said he will be selective about who they bring in from the transfer portal.
They made an offer to Jared Verse, an edge rusher from Albany. Verse had 11.5 tackles for a loss and 9.5 sacks. With losses to Nik Bonitto and Isaiah Thomas, the Sooners may need some help from the get-go. But will they reach the transfer portal for other talent this offseason? This is the question to follow in the coming months.
